Recently, the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development issued a PUBLIC NOTICE regarding information verification of landowners in Tanzania. The verification process was scheduled to commence on the 01st of July 2021 to 30th of September 2021, whereby all landowners with Certificates of Title, Letters of Offer and Residential Licences are all required to adhere to the verification process.

The process shall be conducted across the country in the land offices within the regional councils, municipal councils, city councils as well as district councils. The verification process requires the landowners to fill in the questionnaires which shall be available at all above mentioned land offices, and at the Ministry’s website (www.lands.go.tz).

After filling in the questionnaire, landowners should submit the same attached with;

  1. Certified copies of Certificates of Title, Letters of Offer or Residential Licences,
  2. Certified copies of National Identification Cards or National Identification Numbers (NIN) for those with no cards, and
  3. For entities Certified copies of;
  • Certificates of Incorporation and registrations,
  • Detailed information of shareholders
  • National Identifications Cards of shareholders.

The questionnaire shall be submitted at the above-mentioned offices or through email address occupancy@lands.go.tz. It is noteworthy that for landowners who wish to submit their information physically and are not able to make it to the land offices, they can appoint their representatives by granting them a Special Power of Attorney.
